A striking antique Japanese bronze okimono depicting a rooster in an animated stance, its wings partially spread and its long tail feathers sweeping dramatically upward and outward.
Finely modeled throughout, the sculpture features richly textured plumage, articulated feet, and a deeply patinated bronze surface that emphasizes the layered feather work. Roosters were a favored subject in Japanese decorative arts during the Meiji period, when metalworkers produced increasingly naturalistic animal sculptures for both domestic and international markets.
